Quaint and secluded with far-reaching panoramic view into the Lavanttal valley, the Felsenhütte invites to an authentic holiday in pristine nature. The only neighbour is a herd of grazing cows and the noise level is limited to the cheery chirping of birds and the happy mooing of the cows.
Part of the hut’s facade has been kept in its quaint original condition. Built from old and new material with logs from the region, the hut radiates local history from every pore. The furniture for the hut has been selected with much love for detail.
The hut owner is especially proud of the living room, which is furnished with many different types of timber – from bright and new to creaking old wood. A small stand-up bar crafted from timber has been added as an extra. In short – a hut with beautiful details and delightful little bits and bobs which turn your holiday into a pleasant experience.
An herb bed, lovingly created by the hut owner and his children, is available in the garden. Thus, dishes prepared on the wood-fired stove can be refined with fresh herbs. If you don’t fancy cooking, then treat yourself to the hearty fare served at the “Kleinhinterberghütte“ which is only 2 km away.
The location of the hut is the starting point for many family-friendly hiking tours, but also for sporty activities. And there are countless possibilities to just stay a while and enjoy. The hut owners have the best tips for this. The Wetterkreuz for example is only 30 minutes away and the famous Forstofen hiking area can be reached within 1 hour.
Tip: If you register for a permit, then you can catch your own fish at the nearby fish farm or you simply collect already prepared fish from there.
